The potential enhancement of Paragon boards and their internal synergies is a matter that has captured my attention. Upon reviewing my characters, all of which have reached level 75, I’ve begun to harbor a stronger sentiment that the design of Paragon boards could be structured to not only reinforce various build possibilities but also interconnect and complement one another.
My notion revolves around the concept of empowering each legendary associated with the Paragon board through investments made specifically into that very board. To illustrate, let’s consider the example of the Fire Sorceress:
Consider the existing legendary, “Burning Instinct: Your burning damage is increased by 40%, and your critical strike damage is further elevated by 5% for every 20 points of intelligence.”
Now, envision a system where allocating Paragon points to the Fire Sorceress board dynamically enhances the “% increase by crit strike damage” for every point invested anywhere within the board. Moreover, we could augment the “damage further increased by 5% for every 20 intelligence” element with an additional 5% increment for each active rare node on this specific board.
The next dimension of board investment could manifest in unlocking supplementary effects tied to the legendary node. For instance:
- “With each magic node unlocked, extend the duration of burning effects by 1 second for all skills involving burning.”
- “For every rare node unlocked, amplify burning damage by 5% per node.”
Lastly, the level of glyphs would exert its influence on the board’s legendary power in a distinctive manner. Given the legendary status of the glyphs, they would retain their existing functionality while also incorporating an added bonus related to the legendary aspect. This bonus would be applicable across all glyphs.
Take the Burning Sorceress as an example:
“Defeated enemies engulfed in flames will leave behind smoldering cinders on the ground, inflicting 100% fire damage over a 6-second span. The effective radius is 2, and for every 5 glyph levels, the radius expands by an additional 2 units.” A glyph leveled up to 20 would extend the radius to 8 units.
The potential implementations for this concept are numerous. I’m curious to know whether you share the sentiment of desiring amplified character potency and increased diversity in build options derived from the character leveling experience. This approach could move towards a model where items serve to complement your build, rather than solely defining it.
